Generally speaking, as we age, our level of inflammation increases.  After 40, we are at much higher risk for pain and inflammatory damage.  It could be from wear and tear injuries to muscles and ligaments, or a chronic disease such as arthritis.

As we age, the adverse effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are also more serious, even life threatening.  These include gastric disturbances, ulcers and bleeding, decreased kidney function, increased risk of heart attack and stroke to name a few.  Over 16,500 deaths each year occur due to this class of drugs.

NSAIDs include ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, aspirin and celecoxib.

Inflammation is not always the enemy.

The body protects itself against infection, toxicity, injury and other insults through inflammation. Despite what many in standard and alternative medicine would have us believe, inflammation is neither the enemy nor the problem. Inflammation is a constructive action purposely created by the body.  Inflammation is a necessary process for repair and recovery from a wide variety of injuries and insults. To believe otherwise is to imagine that one of the most basic defense mechanisms of the body is a “mistake”… that the body is unfortunate in its actions and that we somehow know better. Such belief has allowed for the massive employment of not only steroids but also a plethora of other anti-inflammatory drugs obtained both over the counter and via prescription on a daily basis. Inflammation can take many forms- heat, redness, swelling and of course- PAIN.   Pain is an indicator of a more complex underlying issue.  Under normal circumstances, our body will deal with the inflammation quickly so the rest of the healing process can occur and the pain disappears.  But if toxins already overwhelm us, a lifestyle deprived of necessary nutrients; we can enter a chronic inflammatory state.   To this as a Chiropractic physician, I must add vertebral subluxations, as a Biomagnetic Therapy provider, cell voltage diminishing.

Chronic inflammation is often referred to as the “Silent Killer”.  Both acute and chronic inflammation can contribute to Pain.  Without addressing the inflammation, there is little chance that pain will subside on its own.  Remember, pain is signal that needs to be medically evaluated.  Pain is our check engine light.

Alleviating pain with natural substances focuses on modifying inflammatory pathways, improving mood and restoring balance in the body.  Prescription medications can only target one inflammatory pathway, whereas natural substances have the unique ability to modulate many pathways simultaneously. Natural pain relievers like curcumin, boswellia and hemp hold great promise for the pain epidemic.

Curcumin

Curcumin (from turmeric) is one of the most widely researched medicinal substances - natural or pharmaceutical- in the world.  With almost 11,000 peer reviewed studies curcumin has been investigated for health conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and pain.  Joint pain is a major causes of chronic pain with arthritis affecting more than 50 million Americans.

Choose from our 2 Curcumin (Turmeric) products:

         Acute Inflammation: Trauma Less

Chronic Inflammation: Inflam Health & more

Boswellia

Curcumin is highly effective of it on its own but it also has synergetic properties when combined with other natural ingredients such as boswellia.  Patients that take this herbal combination has experience greater reduction in joint pain and tenderness and an increase ability to walk and perform daily chores.  In a study on knee osteoarthritis (OA),  when compared to the group taking the prescription drug Celebrex for OA, the patients on the herbal combination Curcumin and Boswellia were downgraded from “moderate to severe” to “mild to moderate arthritis”.

Aside from directly affecting pain, both Curcumin and Boswellia has also been shown to help improve mood.  In many instances pain and mood disorders co-occur,  so finding compounds that can work on the mind and body are incredible valuable. Curcumin has been shown in multiple clinical trials to be a potent and Boswellia has  been shown to balance cortisol levels, which can become disturbed during chronic pain.

Combine above products with our newest product Pain-Less X2  or Hemp Plus &  more blend.

Hemp Oil

Another exciting natural compound that is gaining stream with regard to pain is hemp.  Hemp oil from the stalk of the plant contains many beneficial compounds, including a full spectrum of Cannabinoids.   These cannabinoids interact with our endocannabinoid.   The endocannabinoid system (ECS) has receptors spanning the whole body, and it’s discovery 30 years ago could be one of the most important medical breakthroughs of our time.

Hemp and marijuana are often both referred to as cannabis, but hemp differs from its cousin marijuana in terms of delta-9- tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content.

Many researchers isolate one or two compounds to evaluate their benefits however it seems like the whole hemp extract maybe superior.  Whole hemp extracts contain compounds like CBD, cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN) and many others.

Hemp also contains terpenoids like that beta-caryophyllene and myrcene.  Many of the compound in hemp have been identified as anti-inflammatory and pain relieving.

Whole plant extract is more effective at reducing pain and inflammation than CBD extract alone.  Cannabis has also being explored for ots positive effects on cases difficult to treat pain like neuropathic pain and intractable cancer pain and that deficiencies in our ECS can manifest as headaches (including migraines), fibromyalgia, muscle spasms and even irritable bower syndrome.  Trials underway for osteoarthritis,  chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, neurological pain and spinal cord injury pain.

Our complete Hemp Plus line is from the whole plant extract.  Choose any one, basic or intensive, but if you want Hemp & Boswellia chose our Hemp Plus &  more blend.
